We stock OEM Mighty Mule brackets for the current models, but for the older FM series and any custom gate frame geometry, we fabricate the part in the driveway from steel stock that matches or exceeds the original gauge. Aftermarket brackets exist and they’re fine for some installs, but we’ve seen too many stamped aftermarket plates that are half the thickness of the OEM part. On a gate a kid can push, thin metal bends. We don’t install it.

Signs Your Mighty Mule Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate sags toward the latch side when it’s open. That’s almost always a hinge bracket that’s cracking or a weld that’s pulling away from the post. The hinge post wasn’t set deep enough or the bracket wasn’t gusseted, and now the whole geometry is off.
• The opener arm rattles or clicks at the fork. The mounting hole in the fork bracket has worn oval, so the bolt slops around every time the gate cycles. You can see it if you watch the fork while someone else opens the gate.
• The gate jerks at the start of travel. A partially broken weld on the opener plate flexes under load, then catches. It feels like a motor problem, but it’s steel moving when it shouldn’t.
