These 24V heavy-duty operators move a lot of leaf for a single arm, and when a leaf lists even half an inch, the bottom hinge bracket becomes a lever. We find the crack starting right at the factory weld, often before the owner sees any sag. Our fix is to grind the old weld, re-weld it square, and add a corner gusset so the same crack doesn’t come back. On a BFT gate, a welded gusset is a permanent fix, not a patch.
• BFT control board damage from a misaligned safety edge or photo eye. The board keeps reversing the gate ten times a day, and the relays eventually fry.
