Ghost Controls Keypad & Intercom Repair: The Sherman Oaks Owner’s Guide

Signs Your Ghost Controls Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing

• Keypad beeps but the gate won’t move. This almost always means the keypad is transmitting, but the receiver on the control board isn’t pairing. Could be a dead battery in the keypad sending a weak signal, or the board lost its stored code. We’ve seen this a dozen times after a power surge on Van Nuys Boulevard.
• Some buttons work, others don’t. That’s a worn membrane under the keypad face. Ghost Controls keypads use a flexible circuit that breaks down with direct sun exposure, which we get plenty of in Sherman Oaks. Once one button fails, the rest aren’t far behind.
• Intercom rings, but no voice comes through. The speaker wire or the speaker itself has failed. It’s often corrosion at the connector because the intercom’s exposed to irrigation overspray or morning dew along the fence line. A new speaker runs less than a new intercom.
• Keypad works from two feet away, but not from the driveway. That’s a weak transmitter or a receiver with a failing antenna. People assume it’s a dead keypad and buy a new one, then the new one won’t pair either. The problem’s at the board.
